Hyper Light Breaker Drops TODAY!
The time has come! Hyper Light Breaker drops Today, January 14th! Apart from Hyper Light Drifter being one of my favorite games—it even inspired me to make my first game in the same engine—I also have two Hyper Light Drifter tattoos drawn up. One uses the cypher from the game to spell my kids’ names, and the other is centered around the Drifter. Granted, I haven’t gotten these yet, or any tattoo for that matter, because decisions are hard, and money always seems better spent somewhere else. One day though! Maybe.
Anyway, where was I? Oh yeah! Hyper Light Breaker is here and I couldn’t be more excited to explore this broken, crazy world.

This time around, we’re diving into procedurally generated worlds packed with unique layouts, hordes of enemies, and shiny loot waiting to be discovered. Think large-scale open biomes and intricate labyrinths you’ll be itching to explore, only now you’ll have tools like hoverboards, gliders, and wall-dashing to traverse them with style. Yes, wall-dashing. If you’re not already sold, I don’t know what to tell you.
And then there’s the multiplayer component. This is where things get spicy. You and your fellow Breakers can tackle the Overgrowth together in co-op mode, facing waves of enemies and intense boss fights that will undoubtedly test your reflexes and patience. Honestly, the only thing better than experiencing this world is sharing the chaos with a friend—or three.

Whether you’re tweaking builds to match your playstyle or experimenting with new weapons, upgrades, and items, Hyper Light Breaker seems to have endless ways to keep you coming back. And as you conquer the Overgrowth, you’ll bring back resources to help rebuild the settlement, which evolves over time. It’s the kind of progression that makes every run feel meaningful—even when the Abyss King inevitably stomps you into the ground.
The Crowns and the Abyss King Await
But it’s not all hoverboards and loot drops—there’s a deeper story to uncover. Fragments of memories from the enigmatic Crowns hint at a narrative full of mystery and tragedy. And then there’s the Abyss King, who sounds equal parts terrifying and intriguing. Is he an unstoppable tyrant? A tragic figure? Both? We’ll find out soon enough, and I, for one, am ready to get wrecked while figuring it out.
